Charlotte Street Foundation identifies the needs and fuels the evolution of an ever-changing multidisciplinary arts ecosystem, acting as its primary provocateur. We cultivate the contemporary, the exceptional, and the unexpected in the practice of artists working in and engaging with the Kansas City Art Community
Shelby Burchett is a Kansas City-based artist who graduated with a MFA in Textiles from the University of Kansas in 2016. She received her BFA in Fiber from the Kansas City Art Institute. During the past three years Shelby has primarily focused her studio practice in exploring material magick and creates work through her alter-ego, Goo-Witch, a persona which specifically utilizes her understanding of magick, science, individual spirituality, and experimentation as ritual.
“The work that I currently make focuses on creating objects and spaces that tell fragments of a magical narrative invoked by my role as Goo-Witch. I seek to collect, organize, and process materials that are reminiscent of magick, reminders of mysteries, and touchstones of curious encounters.”
