Charlotte Street Foundation identifies the needs and fuels the evolution of an ever-changing multidisciplinary arts ecosystem, acting as its primary provocateur. We cultivate the contemporary, the exceptional, and the unexpected in the practice of artists working in and engaging with the Kansas City Art Community
Desiree Morales is a native of St. Louis, Mo and 2016 graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute/Photography. Morales is interested in identifying the viewpoints of the world and the way things translate as an image. This is an idea that remains consistent throughout different bodies of work.
“I’ve begun to address the contemporary role of photography in art. An idea applied through the form of spatial construction. I am examining the difference between a physical object and a photograph of that thing. Photography is rapidly becoming the main delivery for artworks, yet there is little acknowledgement of the ways in which this changes the way we perceive dimensional works. Through my work I dissect this notion. The relationship of photography to these structures meant for seeing and re-interpreting documentation images as fine art works.”
