Charlotte Street Foundation identifies the needs and fuels the evolution of an ever-changing multidisciplinary arts ecosystem, acting as its primary provocateur. We cultivate the contemporary, the exceptional, and the unexpected in the practice of artists working in and engaging with the Kansas City Art Community
The cardinal rule in creating non-fiction work is to tell the truth. I grew up watching way too many crime shows and recall having early confusion at the notion of telling the truth, “the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” My confusion is ongoing; I’ve never found the truth to be that objectively complete, that obvious, nor that willing to comply with my observations of the world.
I study the structure of memory through writing about home, family, childhood, loss, absence, and dream in an effort to understand truth, how memory helps and hinders my ability to tell the truth and to share meaning.
