Charlotte Street Foundation identifies the needs and fuels the evolution of an ever-changing multidisciplinary arts ecosystem, acting as its primary provocateur. We cultivate the contemporary, the exceptional, and the unexpected in the practice of artists working in and engaging with the Kansas City Art Community
Debuting at Paragraph gallery, 23 East 12th Street, on Friday, January 17, 6-9pm, In·ter·ven·tion is a temporary, site-specific installation by studio resident Carolina Aranibar. Inspired by natural phenomena of light, color, and reflections, and developed through a period of exploration and experimentation within Paragraph gallery, In·ter·ven·tion responds to and amplifies specific dynamic aspects of the gallery space, using subtle shifts in light to enunciate elements of the space most likely otherwise unobserved or ignored.
Opening night will feature the premiere of Preliminary Studies at 8pm, a new music composition by resident composer/musician Hunter Long. Performed by Long, Amy Hearting, and Jason Smith, the piece takes the performers out of their comfort zones by playing unfamiliar instruments, most of them toy instruments common in child music classes.
