Charlotte Street Foundation identifies the needs and fuels the evolution of an ever-changing multidisciplinary arts ecosystem, acting as its primary provocateur. We cultivate the contemporary, the exceptional, and the unexpected in the practice of artists working in and engaging with the Kansas City Art Community
“…Collectively, Miley’s work could be seen as a discussion on the sublime. This suggestion is quickly dismissed because of the physical tactility (which is distant in the drawings, clear and personable in the sculptures) of the artist’s efforts and the kind of intellectual forcefulness that a viewer might indistinctly feel. The subject matter of the work, whether it be a beached whale (Candide), an old window (Window (with metonym)), or otherwise, reforms itself as a dynamic element, a humble component that prevents and forces the viewer to examine their own physical and cognitive position, which then becomes the new subject of the installation. For the artist, the work functions as an exploration of his own psyche – of logical reasoning in concert with irrational dedication to craft.”
